Prof. Dr. Onyee Nwankpa’s expertise in exploring the profound impact of music as a therapeutic ally dates back to the 1980s during his tenure as a Lecturer in Music and in Humanities at the University of Nigeria. During this period, he was evaluating the driving force of music in the traditions of African society, its profound and magical effects on participants at festivals and other events involving music.
Onyee Nwankpa’s complimentary research and study in electro-acoustic music amplifies his mastery of the traditional use of musical instruments in creating a combination of different and unique sound dynamics capable of influencing the physical and emotional well-being of listeners.
